Story

My names are Fridah Lorithae aged 42 years old. Am born and in Kenya Turkana County, Lodwar the poorest County in kenya with the highest temperatures raising as high as 42 degrees Celsius. I have 5 lovely Children and also living with my sister in law who is mentally challenge requiring special care. I am married for last 24 year unfortunately my husband succumbed a road accident which left him weak. he went through bilateral neuron surgery to remove clots in his brain. This left me as the only bread winner for my family.

Initially we were living into 2 muddy rooms with ants attacking all the sticks in the house. So the house could fall anytime.

I remember one day I was sleeping with my 3 days infant baby and the roof started falling on us, I wept bitterly trying to protect the little one. we could spent our nights outside during windy seasons afraid that the roof could fall on us. The worst days  were the windy rainy seasons; We could all gather in the center of the shaking house and spent the night sitting looking for the kids incase the roof falls ..bad unforgettable experience. We were both Jobless.

Immediately I got a job I rushed and too take a loan and started building my dream house but unfortunately the loan could only go half way. Luckily enough we were able to fix outside  doors and therefore we decided to move in. Currently am only earning an eighth of my salary $50 only.

The main challenges we are currently facing in the unfinished new home is frequent flues diseases  especially to kids due to exposed cement dust.

I have 5 kids aging between 3 to 17 years of age. They are all in school by grace of God. School fees arrears is overwhelming.

BUSINESS

Meeting mare basic needs to my family is a problem due to very low income. I wish to put up a small scale business ; a retail shop which could raise some profits to cater for my family basic needs and also share some to my needy neighbors.

Sadly, the situation of running up and down with no success has also led to depression on my side though am managing it well for the sake of my family.
